(Due Thu. 3/10/11) Please answer the following prompt in 5-15 sentences:
What are your favorite and least favorite ways to communicate online and why? (Online communication can be any communication that uses an electronic medium. Examples include text messaging, email, instant messaging, social network status updates and comments, tweeting, blogging, Skype, message boards, phone calls and more.) I am particularly interested in pro/con comparisons of different methods. So, for example, if you prefer text messaging to making phone calls, explain the advantages and drawbacks of each method.

My favorite way to communicate online is email. It's convenient and doesn't require constant attention. I usually check it once a day. I use texting and calling about equally, but only when necessary. Skype is a good way of communicating but I've only used it once or twice. I've talked to one of my freinds in Israel with it but the issue is you have to coordinate over email to do it.

My favorite ways to communicate online are Facebook and Skype. Facebook chat is quick and easy. It is a fast way to talk to your friends. I use Skype for chatting with multiple friends, either through text chat or video chat. Both of these ways of communication are easy to use, and easy to access. Along with these, texting is another form of communication I use. When I do not have a computer with me, texting is an alternative for Facebook or Skype.

My favorite way to communicate online is Facebook. You can do what you can do with email and more. For instace, facebook has chat, groups, invites. The main reason though is that everyone seems to be on it so you can usually get a quick response, unlike email which some kids only have because facebook makes you have one. Also, communication is not only one-on-one, which email can do, but Facebook is easier to do it with tagging, groups, or wall posts/statuses. This lets in a flood of communication with multiple mediums like third party links, photos, video, or just plain text. And, a set audience is not required as email is. You can make something that can be responded by anyone. This can be bad if abused by either the user or third party, so one must be careful in not exposing what they shouldn't. However, email is necessary in formal situations, asking a teacher to facebook you is impossible, but also completely awkward and out of place.

I'd have to say I agree with Nathan most. I definitely use email the most of all electronic communication, aside from phone calls. Email is convenient for me because it doesn't require constant checking or updating like texting or FaceBook, but it's easily accessible and instant. Also, I can communicate without having to be instant or checking all the time. However, if I want to talk to someone immediately, the obvious way to get in contact is by phone. I don't have a FaceBook and hardly ever use texting, so I suppose I'm a little technology-impaired on the communication front.

My favorite way of communication online is Facebook. You get responses very quickly as opposed to email where you have to wait a while. The internet is all about doing things quickly and efficiently (like text speak) and I think email doesn't use all of the resources that the internet has to offer. While I'd rather write an email then send a letter, it still is't the most appealing choice.

My favorite ways of communicating is texting and email. Both of them don't require a person to reply right away, so you don't have to worry about interrupting them. Also, unlike calling you know that it will be them who sees the message (I really don't like calling someone and having someone else pick up the phone).

My favorite form of online communication is facebook. This is because it allows for quick responses. Also, if i have a question about something, I can post once, and lots of people can see rather than having to ask people indivudally. Facebook is a quick and easy way of communication, which is why I use it over email and skype and things like that.

My favorite form of online communication is texting. Its more convenient then email or Facebook because you can access it anywhere you have phone service. A lot of people also always have their phones, so it’s easier to directly contact them. With Facebook you have to wait for them to log in and then reply, which you can only see after you log in yourself. Also with texting you usually get a quick answer and you don’t have to wait around for someone to log in.

my favorite form of communication is facebook. cause its like instant texting messaging or another case email. i use it for quick easy back and forth talk. you can also use it to send message basically like an email. it is better for this than getting on the email or txting cause u are using a keyboard than keypad. it is also good commenting on photos.

My favorite medium of communication generally depends on the situation I'm in, and who I'm talking to. If I'm out somewhere (say, a boring family event) and I want to amuse myself, I might get involved in a texting conversation. If I'm on the computer in front of a movie and happen to have Facebook open, I generally IM people from Facebook chat. And if, say, I'm in my room, without any background noise, I might videochat with someone over Skype. Generally, if I'm deep in conversation with someone, I'll prefer using a computer over using my phone, as it'll be easier to relate ideas quickly (I'm an incredibly fast typist and terribly slow texter). But, like I said, it all really depends on my situation at the time.

my favorite is talking on the phone because it is more personal but texting and facebook are very convenient. i mostly use email for school, not usually friends. i feel that texting is also more casual than email and talking on the phone.

My favorite ways of communicating online are through facebook, ichat and skype. I love seeing peoples faces! In the least creepy way as possible. It is so much more satisfying to associate someones feelings with what they are actually saying. Where as over the TEXT MESSAGE, you just don't know what the person is thinking. I do prefer ichat or skype because it's nice to see someone while talking to them and actually understand how they feel. I feel this is the most satisfying way of communication, thus why I like Skype, ichat and facebook the most. Lastly to conclude TEXT is the WORST thing in the world.

I respectfully disagree with jakes comment.... yet i agree in some way...... Tho text messaging is a pain in the butt! Especially texting without a smartphone because you have to click 3 or 4 times for one letter. When i have to tell people important information or tell them a long story i REFUSE to text it to them because it will take for ever, instead i pick up the phone a give them a call. Calling is so much easier than texting because i can get to the point with words and i can also show my emotions.

My favorite way of communicating online varies on who I'm talking to and what we are talking about. I love how convenient facebook and texting are. Especially facebook because there so many ways to communicate within it. I also like calling or skyping because sometimes it's nicer to hear someone's voice or see their face. It makes it a lot more personal which is sometimes better.
